For more information contact: EmmaFoley@w5online.co.uk

This Seismic Citizenship programme is funded by the British Council and brings together two main elements:
• The importance of learning about other languages, cultures and places.
• Global citizenship and the engineering innovation required to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number 13.
After students learn about Mexico and Colombia from their partner language assistants over a period of weeks, they will work in small groups to design and test an earthquake resistant building, incorporating engineering techniques which are used in skyscrapers today. During this celebration event schools will come together to showcase their designs and award prizes to the skyscraper which can withstand the strongest earthquake.
