Physics in the Freezer - Pupil Workshops

Thursday 13 & Friday 14 February

Suitability: Key Stage 2 & Key Stage 3

Free. Book via rachel@nisciencefestival.com

Around 78% of every breath we take in is nitrogen, a gas so familiar that we rarely pay any attention to it. Join Badminton School’s Science Outreach team to see some amazing demonstrations based on this element in its liquid form, where its boiling point of -196oC is exploited to explore the behaviour of materials at very low temperatures. When physics gets this cool, materials’ properties can change dramatically, some metals can be turned into magnets and liquid oxygen can be trapped in thin air so you can watch it boil in front of your eyes.
